another day in paradise

Or rather another week of me being too tired to do anything.

Tuesday we went and traded in our old phones for new ones. It took hours, like we were there til the store closed and we didn’t think it would take that long so we had planned to eat dinner afterwards.

Anyway I got the blue iphone and I also got a new pop wallet:

That’s the one I originally wanted when I got my first pop wallet a while back. I had the Death Star one on my old phone case because it was all I could find at the time. Decided to order the Falcon one for my new phone, it looks nice with the blue.

Thursday Chase went to shoot a play and I tagged along because my cousin was in it.

Throughout this week and last weekend I was working on Cath’s birthday present. A couple of years ago I did a castle painting for her room so i wanted to do a matching Sailor Moon.

Well after constantly poking at my first version trying to make it work about halfway through the week I started over.

Here’s the first version. It just became overworked and looked messy. I’d added big glitter flakes which I initially liked but in the end it just added to the messiness.

Here’s the second version, simplified, no glitter.

Much better. Although I just noticed her leg is wonky LOL I had a hard time getting the floating pieces of my guide placed.

I did get some sewing done.

Nothing on Utena because I’m still waiting on my new epaulet trim to arrive. Supposd to be here today. So I worked on Leia. Tried to make myself do a half hour each night at least.

Luna being extra clingy doesn’t help me trying to sew. She wants to be in my sewing room if I’m there which means I have to watch and make sure she’s not eating anything.

But I did make some decent progress on the new Leia disneybound.
I got the bodice panels lined, darts sewn in place and sewn together at the seams. It’s too big at the moment, I cut it a little wider at the lower back seam because my mock-up was a little tight through the waist and too big through the upper chest/shoulders. I overcompensated and now it’s too big everywhere. Not horribly so, but I’m going to need Chase to come mark where the back panels are meeting so I can figure out how much to remove. Also think I’m going to have to take the shoulder seams up a bit. The shoulder seams are gathered which will pull in that “sleeve” when it’s done but obviously I don’t want to do that until I figure out if I need to take it up or not.

I went to pin the skirt on yesterday and I realized I’d never actually sewn the skirt panels together LOL. So I got those sewn together and the hem is about halfway done. Also once the skirt is set in I expect that waist seam to actually be at the waist. I may also open up the neck a bit, the pattern illustration looks a bit more like a boat neck – but then again that may also be something that gets fixed when I do the shoulder gathers.

We did Valentine’s Day dinner Saturday night. Cheese fondue with apple, bread, steak and potatoes, with chocolate fondue, strawberries and cheesecake for dessert. It was way too much food LOL

Then last night we went over to Nana and Kristie for Cath’s bday and watching the super bowl. All I cared about was THAT DR STRANGE 2 TRAILER. Like ok that is my new reason for living for the next 4 months.
